The region called “Kashubian Switzerland”, located west of Gdansk, abounds in woodlands, lakes and picturesque moraine hills.
If you have some more time during your stay in Gdansk or Sopot, dip into the beautiful Kashubian region, known from the breathtaking views, strong traditions and interesting culture.
It’s home to the ethnic group of Kashubians, whose native language is not understood by the average Pole.
During our private tour, we will visit the most interesting places of this region.
Our First stop will be in Żukowo to see the historic 12th- century Norbertine Nunnery building where Kashubian school of embroidery was created.
In Chmielno, we will visit the Museum of Kashubian Pottery with the pottery utensils decorated with the characteristic Kashubian motifs.
Next, we will drive to Kartuzy, where we recommend visiting a local ethnographic museum for a glimpse into the lifestyle of the Kashubians. You will see traditional garments, arts and crafts as well as folk musical instruments, such as the famous devil's fiddle.
There will be numerous attractions in Szymbark, where you will learn about unique Kashubian notes, learn to sing Kashubian songs, and also discover the longest wooden plank in the world. Here you will also find the “Upside Down” house, the Siberia Exile Home and the Canadian Trapper’s Cottage.
At the end of our excursion you may also wish to climb to the top of the observation point on the Wiezyca Hill (329m above the sea level), to admire the sunset.
